Role of LinkedIn Marketing in Recruitment and Selection Practices in the Hotel Industry

Abstract

Employees are the most valuable resource and become the sole source of sustainable competitive advantage. Therefore attracting and selecting the right person for the right job is critical for the success of any organisation. Contemporary organisations use multiple selection tools to identify the best talent. Social media is a modern tool getting more important in recruitment and selection. The primary objective was to explore and understand the role of LinkedIn in the marketing of jobs to attract qualified applicants. Another key objective was to analyse the practice of LinkedIn at the shortlisting stage to identify the most suitable applicants for the openings. The primary data was collated by employing an in-depth semi-structured interview method from three reputed 4/5 stars hotels in Al Ain, UAE. The findings revealed a high usage of LinkedIn during the recruitment and selection stages, leading to job applicants' quality and quantity.
